 Annual MLK Memorial Breakfast Tickets Now on Sale

GREENSBORO, NC -- (January 7, 2011) -- Greensboro's Human Relations Commission is sponsoring its annual breakfast in memory of Martin Luther King Jr. at 7:30 am Monday, January 17, at the Sheraton Greensboro Hotel at Four Seasons/Koury Convention Center, 3121 High Point Rd. Tickets are $20. Due to limited seating, tickets must be purchased in advance by calling the City's Human Relations Department at 336-373-2038.

The keynote speaker for the breakfast, which is being held on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, is Imam Yahya Abdullah of the Islamic Association of Desoto, Texas. He was Imam of the Dallas Masjid for 18 years and is currently involved in the development of an Islamic community that will include a Masjid (mosque), school, cultural center, housing, businesses, and an assisted-living facility for the elderly.

During the past 25 years, Abdullah has authored books and participated in numerous interfaith dialogues with Christians, Muslims, Jews, and other faiths across the US and Bermuda. Former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush have presented Abdullah with awards for his community service.
