City Offices Close January 17 in Observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day
GREENSBORO, NC (January 13, 2011) – City of Greensboro offices and facilities are closed and City service schedules are altered Monday, January 17, in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.
The following details the changes in service and facility schedules:
- There is no trash/recycling/yard/bulk waste collection on Monday, January 17. Monday’s collection takes place Tuesday, January 18. Tuesday’s collection takes place Wednesday, January 19.
- The White Street Landfill, Burnt Poplar Transfer Station, and Household Hazardous Waste Center are closed Monday, January 17.
- The Greensboro Historical Museum and all branches of the Greensboro Public Library are closed Monday, January 17.
- Greensboro Transit Authority’s (GTA) bus service will operate hourly on Monday, January 17. HEAT service will operate on a reduced schedule. The Route 4, 5, 11 and 13 services will experience detours due to the Martin Luther King Jr. Day parade from 9 am to 2 pm.
- All Parks and Recreation administrative offices will be closed Monday, January 17, including the Greensboro Cultural Center, City Arts, City Beautiful, Athletics, all recreation centers, Smith Senior Center, Folk Teen Center, Caldcleugh Multicultural Arts Center, MainStream Resources and the Greensboro Youth Council. All parks, gardens, city cemeteries, lakes, trails, Greensboro Sportsplex and the Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion at Barber Park will operate on a regular schedule.
- Emergency services are available for water and sewer needs and City customers can call 373-2489 (CITY) to report water or sewer problems 24 hours a day. After placing the call, prompts will provide direction for how to connect to the City’s water resources dispatcher.
