2011 Neighborhood Initiative Grants Awarded

GREENSBORO, NC -- (February 18, 2011) -- Greensboro Beautiful Inc. recently approved two grants through its Neighborhood Initiative Grants Program. Funding is being awarded to:

  • Sunset Hills Neighborhood Association ($1,000) to plant trees along the 1700 and 1800 blocks of Madison Avenue and Greenway Park.
  • Hunter Hills Community Watch ($50) to assist with developing a planting plan for a “Hunter Hills Welcome
    Garden.”

The primary purpose of the Neighborhood Initiative Grants Program is to encourage and assist neighborhoods and resident groups within the City of Greensboro to create beautification and ecological projects. The funds are meant to help initiate an idea that will set a trend, enhance community spirit, and/or establish new standards of quality and excellence in the neighborhood setting.

This program is made possible by private contributions to Greensboro Beautiful, which works in partnership with the City. Neighborhood associations and civic groups and clubs are encouraged to apply for funding assistance available through this program each spring.

For more information, contact the Greensboro Beautiful office at 373-2199.
