An Evening of Short Plays Returns February 10-13

GREENSBORO, NC -- (February 3, 2011) -- An Evening of Short Plays, a biannual event sponsored by the Greensboro Playwrights’ Forum, stages 10 original plays by 10 local playwrights February 10-13 in Greensboro Cultural Center's City Arts Studio Theatre, 200 N. Davie St. Performances are 8:05 pm Thursday through Saturday, and 2:05 pm on Sunday. Admission is by donation. 

An Evening of Short Plays is part of the 9th annual Greensboro Fringe Festival. Some of the plays contain adult content and language.

The plays include:

  • Communication Gap by Bill Cissna – A young woman's social experiment on her classmate takes an unusual turn.
  • Possum Play by Chris Tilley – There is something dead in the road. Do you poke it with a stick?
  • Her Purse by Debra Kaufman – An exploration of a woman's character, based on the contents of her purse.
  • 5th Street Crossover by Randy Morris – One man’s attempt to save a local landmark gains some other worldly help.
  • Creature of Habit by Tommy Trull – Jane is having an affair with the landscaper. Will her husband notice?
  • Class Action by Grace Ellis – When fairytale characters land in Hell, who can they find to plead their case? A lawyer.
  • Vienna Game by Artemis Jamison – A six-year adulterous affair has gone on long enough. Now the feuding men settle it by playing chess.
  • Better Late Than Always by Ann Marie Oliva – Aliens from outer space are at a night club. Will they be able to recognize each other?
  • Choices by Jini Zlatniski – Dinner plans go astray when jealousy and innuendo creep in.
  • Double Exposure by Mark Smith-Soto – A couple returns from a party. Did he flirt or did he not? That is the question.
