Results Released for Operation Slow Down on Wendover Ave.
GREENSBORO, NC (March 29, 2011) – In an effort to prevent and reduce vehicle crashes, the Greensboro Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit conducted a speed enforcement operation on sections of Wendover Avenue from March 14-25 between the hours of 7 am and 6:30 pm. As a result of the operation, officers issued a total of 489 citations and warnings and arrested three wanted persons. The following is a list of all charges:
Speeding-229 Safety Belt Violations-57 Child Safety Passenger Violations-1 Driving While License Revoked-19 No Operators License-25 Registration Violations-50 Equipment Violations/Tint/Insp-44 Uninsured Motorists-4 Warnings Verbal/Written-54 Wanted Persons Apprehended-3 Other, Not Listed Criminal Violations-2
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has identified speeding, following too closely, and aggressive driving as the top three violations for traffic crash fatalities and injuries. Starting March 28, Greensboro Police, along with officers across the state, are participating in the No Need to Speed Campaign.
