Spotlight Shines on City in New Channel 13 Feature Segment highlights outstanding people, programs and services
GREENSBORO, NC (January 31, 2011) – The City of Greensboro is launching a new segment on Channel 13 to showcase City employees, programs and services that are going above and beyond to benefit City residents. Called Spotlight, the feature begins airing Tuesday at 9:30 am as part of February’s City Connections program. According to Assistant City Manager for Community Relations and Communications Denise Turner, the idea is to use the feature to highlight positive stories about people and City services that are making a difference in Greensboro. “We have a large number of individuals who work for the City who have a story to tell about how they are making an impact on the community. We want to use their stories to share with the community the commitment City employees have to serving them as well as create awareness among City residents of certain programs they may not realize exist.” The first Spotlight feature profiles Al Lowe, a 35-year veteran of the Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department and long-time director of the City’s boxing club at Lindley Recreation Center. The new segment will air monthly on Channel 13 and online at www.greensboro-nc.gov.
