Historical Museum Performance Tells Story of City Labor Leader
GREENSBORO, NC – (April 21, 2011) – A story of Greensboro’s textile history, “James Evans: Standing Down the Stretch-Out,” comes to the stage 7:30 pm Saturday, April 30, and 3 pm Sunday, May 1, at the Greensboro Historical Museum, 130 Summit Ave.
The production weaves together shadow puppetry, modern dance, and spoken narrative to tell the story of labor activist James Evans, who spent 25 years as a weaver at Cone Mills until union organizing cost him his job.
