GYC Seeks Volunteers and Bands for May Carnival
GREENSBORO, NC (March 25, 2011) – The Greensboro Youth Council (GYC) needs Guilford County high school student volunteers and local bands for its GYC Carnival May 10-15 at the Greensboro Coliseum. Opportunities include ticket sales, face painting, and working booths, the maze, inflatables, and more. Volunteers can earn free ride passes, admission, and other incentives.
Volunteer applications may be mailed or delivered to the GYC office at 501 Yanceyville St., Greensboro, NC 27405, by 5 pm on April 15. Applications are also available by calling the GYC office at 336-373-2738, going online at www.greensboro-nc.gov/leisure/gyc or via e-mailing gyc@greensboro-nc.gov.
GYC also needs local bands to compete in the Battle of the Bands contest for a $500 cash prize on Saturday, May 14, from 1-7 pm. Bands must submit an audiocassette tape or CD and $20 registration fee. Registration deadline is April 13. Space is limited and music must be appropriate for all ages.
Local dance troupes, choral groups, martial arts schools, gymnastics teams, and other performers may also submit requests to perform at the carnival. No registration fee is required.
