Services

  • Provides professional planning expertise, facilitates land use regulation, and directs the comprehensive planning process for the orderly growth and development of the City. 
  • Offers neighborhood planning and revitalization, affordable housing, and historic preservation programs.
  • Handles annexation cases and performs planning, zoning, and corridor studies.
  • Provides low interest loans and grants to help homeowners and investors repair housing units, including lead remediation and emergency repairs.
  • Provides information to residents and community groups on Greensboro’s zoning, land use, demographics and socio-economic data.
  • Assists nonprofit and for-profit housing developers with construction and renovation of affordable housing.
  • Administers the Connections 2025 Comprehensive Plan and the Development Ordinance, enforces zoning codes, and processes development review cases for the Zoning Commission, Planning Board, Board of Adjustment, Technical Review Committee, and Advisory Committee on Trees.
  • Assures nonprofit agencies receive assistance for homeless prevention and transitional housing services.
