Parks & Recreation
The nationally-accredited and award-winning Parks & Recreation Department operates or maintains more than 3,500 acres of park land, open space and beautification areas, including neighborhood and regional parks, three public gardens, seven swimming pools (three indoor pools), two golf courses, tennis courts, three lakes, four cemeteries, and more than 90 miles of hiking and biking trails.
The Department also operates City Arts, the Greensboro Sportsplex, Carolyn S. Allen Community Park & Athletic Complex, and Tannenbaum Historic Park. Year-round programs are especially designed for newborns through senior citizens, including programs for those with special needs.
