Creative Greensboro and Elijah Motley will present “Café 808,” an innovative dance performance, as part of their Residency at the Hyers from July 20 to August 17. The residency will culminate with performances at 7 pm on August 8, 9, 15, and 16 at the Stephen D. Hyers Theatre in the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. About “Café 808”

“Café 808” is an innovative dance performance that blends the worlds of street dance theater and immersive theater. Drawing from contemporary dance and street dance styles like hip-hop, breaking, and house, this show creates a unique theatrical experience.

The performance takes place in a jazzy café, where audience interaction is key. You’ll have the chance to influence the show’s direction through battles, games, and live interactions with the dancers. Special Event - Homies Wanna Dance 2v2 battle Friday, August 1, at 7:30 pm

Homies Just Wanna Dance is a warm-up event to “Café 808.” Presented by Eli Motley and Emilio Kimbeni, this event is a two versus two all-styles street dance battle. This event is great for kids, teens, and adults who either never seen an organized dance battle or the experienced street dancer. Anyone is welcome to battle or spectate. About Elijah Motley

Elijah, or Eli, Motley (Greensboro, NC) is a choreographer, dancer, teacher, and MFA in Dance and Choreography recipient from the University of North Carolina Greensboro. Eli also holds a BFA in Dance and Theatre and a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering from Old Dominion University. Situating his artistry within the frame of Hip-Hop Theater and Immersive theater by connecting hip hop, house, breaking, funk styles, and various contemporary modern forms.

His performing resume includes Chicago Dance Crash, Rennie Harris Puremovement, Caroline Calouche & Co, and others. His choreography has been presented in Virginia, North Carolina, New York City, Chicago, Wisconsin, Edinburgh (UK), and Texas. Creative Greensboro’s drama programming provides the community opportunities to participate in all aspects of live theater, from auditioning, casting, rehearsals, stage management, and performance.
