Family, Legacy, Destiny: A One City, One Book Community Celebration

One City, One Book

  • CostFree

Join us for a special One City, One Book evening at Piedmont Hall in the Greensboro Coliseum. Laura Carney, author of My Father’s List, will discuss her book in conversation with Donna Washington and Melanie Brooks. Afterwards, there will be a book signing with the author.

This inspiring gathering will begin with a Community Partner Resource Fair showcasing over twenty local organizations. At 7 pm we celebrate the beginning of Laura Carney's Greensboro residency. Carney’s memoir, My Father’s List: How Living My Dad’s Dreams Set Me Freechronicles her journey to complete her late father’s bucket list—as she discovers the healing power of purpose.

Carney will be in conversation with dynamic women who each bring a unique voice to the evening’s themes. Internationally acclaimed award-winning storyteller Donna Washington, known for her vivid performances and magnetic stage presence, will lend her wisdom and storytelling to the discussion. Joining them is Melanie Brooks, author of Writing Hard Stories and A Hard Silence, who brings thoughtful insight into how we turn personal pain into powerful narrative.

Admission is free and open to all. For more information, email Beth Sheffield.
