Teens! Talk to the President, part of our One City, One Book city-wide book club initiative. In this panel, we will discuss how to make change and be heard as a young person with authors
Laura Carney and
Arthur Milnes. This discussion will be facilitated by North Carolina high schoolers.
Bring your ambition, appetite, and curiosity! We will have an engaging discussion about dreaming big and being heard by important people. You will have a chance to ask our panelists questions during the Q&A. We will have pizza and other refreshments.
This event is located on the 4th floor of the Cultural Arts Center, Room 403. Signage will direct you from the main entrances to the event space. Attendees are encouraged to park in the Church Street Parking Deck, located on 215 N Church St.

Panelist Information
Laura Carney, author of My Father's List, thought it would be impossible to talk with president Jimmy Carter when completing her father's bucket list. She is ready to share how you, too, can do the impossible by embracing dedication and life's chance encounters. My Father's List was one of the Best Books of 2023 in Real Simple magazine. In honor of her father's untimely death, Laura is also an advocate to end distracted driving.
Arthur Milnes, author, historian, former Canadian parliamentary speechwriter and researcher, will teach you how to write and speak to be heard. Arthur has written 15 books spanning topics including Canadian leaders, U.S.-Canadian political relations, and U.S. presidential biographies.
