Project Learning Tree

  • CostFree

Join other Guilford County educators as we explore Greensboro's tree canopy and learn about the benefits of trees in creating sustainable and resilient communities. Using Project Learning Tree's curriculum, workshop participants will be actively engaged in learning about trees including form and function, identification, measurement, and the ecosystem services they provide. Workshop participants will also learn how they can use the free i-Tree program on their school campus for engaging lessons about trees and tree benefits.

Every participant will leave the workshop with a copy of three of Project Learning Tree's resources (Explore Your Environment K-8 guide, Teaching with i-Tree, and The Journeys of Black Professionals in Green Careers) and materials to help them implement activities in their classroom.

All the activities in the K-8 guide are supported by a robust Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS) correlation guide, help build durable STEM Skills, and include differentiated instruction strategies. The activities are also correlated to the NC Standard Course of Study in science and social studies. CEU renewal credits are available. This workshop qualifies for Criteria I or II in the EE Certification Program.

*The reduced cost for this workshop, lunch, and materials has been provided with support from The National Environmental Education Foundation (NEEF) and in partnership with the City of Greensboro’s Office of Sustainability and Resilience and Greensboro Public Libraries. The PLT activity guides are provided free of charge to participants through support from the NC Forestry Association.
