Start Smart Basketball

  • Date: -
  • Introduction: Virtual Start Smart Baseball for ages 3-6 years old.
  • Cost$15 per child

Start Smart Basketball is going virtual! It is the same great program except classes will be held through Zoom due to COVID-19 restrictions of meeting in person. Classes can be done in your home, yard, garage, etc. You will need a bouncy ball to play in the house.

Participants, ages 3-6 years old, will develop proper motor skills for basketball without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Parent-Child groups perform motor skill task that will gradually build confidence in children while they are having fun at the same time! Parent or Guardian participation is required.

Registration is required and is $15 per child. Classes will be held Tuesdays and Thursday from 6-7 pm July 28 to August 13.

Participants will need the following:
1. 1 participant manual (provides instructions for the drills that we go over)
2. 1 mini basketball for dribbling (could be whatever is available)
3. 1 Teslon basketball for passing/catching/shooting (could be whatever is available)
4. 4 cones (these could also be any household objects, like chairs, etc.)
5. 1 basketball goal
6. You may also purchase a player pack directly from NAYS.

These sessions could be done in a house or outside. If inside the space would need to be somewhat open for passing and dribbling. Would recommend outside.

This program is part of GSO: Greensboro Summer Online, a collaboration between Creative Greensboro, Department of Libraries and Museums, and Greensboro Parks and Recreation.
