Repaving the Battleground-Cone Intersection Begins February 26
The City of Greensboro will begin the repaving process of the Battleground-Cone Intersection the week of February 26. Construction began in Spring 2017 to improve the intersection by widening multiple turn lanes on and off Battleground Avenue, adding an additional turn lane and installation of a sidewalk.
The week of February 26, crews will begin milling the intersection at night. The following two weeks, crews will adjust manholes and water valves, reinstall signal loops and pour concrete islands, also all at night. Beginning on March 19, crews will start the paving process. The final paving work will be done during the day. The repaving schedule is weather permitting.
“The Battleground-Cone intersection is one of the busiest in Greensboro and once this is finished, it will greatly improve the safety of motorists who travel through it on a daily basis,” said Adam Fischer, Greensboro Department of Transportation director. “We’re pleased that we’ll be able to do most of the preliminary work at night to cause as little interruption to traffic as possible.”
