Auditions for “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” Will Be May 21-22
The Drama Center of City Arts and the Summer Arts Institute of Guilford County Schools will hold auditions for William Shakespeare’s comedy fantasy, “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” 7-9 pm Monday, May 21, and Tuesday, May 22, at the Stephen D. Hyers Theatre, on the first floor of the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St. Guilford County students aged 7 and older and adults are encouraged to audition. Actors can bring their own material or use the material provided at the audition. The show will be performed July 13-22 at Barber Park.
To help prepare actors, the Drama Center is offering a free “Auditioning for Shakespeare” workshop from 10 am-noon, Saturday, May 19, at the Greensboro Cultural Center. Meredith Stephens, Artistic Director of the newly formed Goodly Frame Theatre who has an extensive background in Shakespeare will teach the workshop. She recently directed a well-received production of “Macbeth.” Bring a monolog or a sonnet to get coaching and feedback. Register online or call 336-373-2728.
This is the eighth annual collaborative production Guilford County Schools Summer Arts Institute and the Drama Center of City Arts have done to provide summer Shakespeare in the Park.
