Eugene Street Parking Deck Back on Track
The City of Greensboro, the Carroll Companies, and Guilford County have been working together to move forward with a plan for the Eugene Street Parking Deck. The project will sit near the corner of N. Eugene and Bellemeade streets, south of the Greensboro Grasshopper’s First National Bank Field.
“The City’s role is to provide public infrastructure that supports and encourages community investment,” said Greensboro City Manager David Parrish. “The Eugene Street Deck will make an immediate impact and support the future growth of downtown Greensboro for projects like Project Slugger and future Carroll Company developments.”
As part of this plan, the City will purchase property from Guilford County and work closely with the Carroll Companies on future development. Guilford County has expressed its support for this economic development project. The new plans call for the parking deck to sit further back from the streets. A final deal between the City, County and Carroll Companies is expected this summer with the project beginning this fall.
“The new parking deck will be more cost and service efficient, as well as City constructed, operated and owned,” said Greensboro Mayor Nancy Vaughan. “This project is first and foremost good for Greensboro. Our residents will benefit long term because of the joint efforts of the City working with Carroll Companies and Guilford County.”
