Post Date:03/09/2020 3:29 PM

The Greensboro Planning Board will hold a public hearing to receive comments and make a recommendation to the Greensboro City Council regarding the adoption of a new Comprehensive Plan, GSO2040 at its meeting at 4 pm on Wednesday, March 18.

The Greensboro City Council will hold a public hearing and make a final decision on plan adoption at its Tuesday, April 21 meeting. Both of these meetings are at the Melvin Municipal Office Building’s (MMOB) Council Chamber, 300 W. Washington St., on the second floor.

The most recent version of the comprehensive plan draft, along with more information on the plan and upcoming events is available on the GSO2040 webpage. A copy is available for review at the Planning Department on the third floor of the MMOB and a brief survey is available through Wednesday, March 18.

Through the PLANIT GSO public engagement process, City staff organized and/or attended over 150 events and received more than 6,000 comments over the past several years. The public input acquired was used to update the plan, which will express the community’s vision for what it wants to be in 20 years and creates a broad framework of policies for achieving that vision. The policies of GSO2040 are found in six Big Ideas: Filling in our Framework; Creating Great Places; Becoming Car Optional; Prioritizing Sustainability; Building Community Connections; and Growing Economic Competitiveness.
