Post Date:03/17/2020 3:00 PM

At a 2 pm briefing, NC Governor Roy Cooper announced an executive order closing restaurants and bars for dine-in customers, allowing take-out and delivery orders to continue, effective at 5 pm today.

Beginning Wednesday, March 18, all City library branches and indoor Parks and Recreation facilities, as well as the Greensboro History Museum, Greensboro Cultural Center and Greensboro Aquatic Center, will be closed due to the coronavirus pandemic. The Greensboro Farmers Curb Market has also been suspended. No timetable has been set to reopen the facilities. City lakes, regional parks and golf courses remain open from 10 am to 3 pm every day. All City greenways, trails and neighborhood parks are open from sunrise to sunset. Staff is actively cleaning all neighborhood playgrounds twice per week.

All City board and commission meetings have been canceled for the next 30 days. The next Greensboro City Council meeting is scheduled for 5:30 pm, Tuesday, March 31.

The Greensboro Fire Department and Police Department are continuing to respond to calls for service with no interruptions. Firefighters are following CDC and International Association of Fire Chiefs response guidelines during this event, allowing them to meet the needs of the community. The Greensboro Police substations on Maple Street and Swing Road will be closed to the public beginning Wednesday, March 18. The Police Department is also requesting that residents adhere to the CDC recommendations and the Governor’s executive order regarding gatherings.
