Post Date:03/25/2020 5:57 PM

Effective immediately, Greensboro Parks and Recreation has made the following operational changes due to COVID-19 concerns.

Outdoor Activities
Today’s updated emergency declaration allows for residents engage in outdoor activities at City park facilities and trails as long as residents comply with social distancing requirements, such as keeping a six-foot distance between individuals. Some park facilities will have special requirements to meet these standards. See below for additional details.

Offices & Indoor Facilities
All indoor facilities are closed to the public. This includes Parks and Recreation Administrative Headquarters, 1001 Fourth St., Parks Operations Division Facility, 320 E. Friendly Ave., and park and lake offices.

All playgrounds at City parks and recreational facilities are closed. This effort complies with the Guilford County emergency declaration, which closes all playgrounds on public property. Neighborhood parks remain open.

Lakes & Regional Parks
Brandt, Higgins, and Townsend lakes and Barber, Country, Hester, and Keeley parks are open 10 am to 3 pm daily. Parks and lake offices are closed to the public.

Staff will be on site to monitor capacity and ensure water safety. Fishing is permitted but pier usage is limited to no more than 10 users at a time. There will be no bait sales or boat rentals. Private boat launch at lakes is permitted.

Golf Courses
Bryan Park and Gillespie Golf Course will resume normal hours. Additional measures will be taken to ensure proper social distancing and the health and safety of staff and patrons, including limiting rentals to one golfer per carts; limiting how many people can enter pro shops at one time; cleaning golf carts after each use; and staff wearing gloves for all transactions.

The Gillespie Grill will operate 10 am to 3 pm for take-out services only.

Forest Lawn, Green Hill, Maplewood and Union cemeteries are open. In coordination with funeral homes and to the greatest extent feasible, burial services will be scheduled from 10 am to 3 pm and will be limited no more than 10 participants.

All plot sales and all other burial services normally conducted in person will be by appointment only.
