Man standing infant of a dark brick wall wearing a dark hat and blazer speaking into a micJosephus Thompson is a poet, teacher and lecturer who founded The Poetry Project, where he works in both the educational and corporate setting focusing on “Education through Correlation." He uses poetry as a catalyst for literacy, leadership and service.

As the host of 90.1FM’s The Poetry Café, his voice is heard weekly over the airwaves as he showcases talented artists from all over the world in the genres of poetry, hip-hop, and R&B to name a few. The show also tours nationally and can now be seen on Amazon Prime. Thompson has performed for Oprah, opened for Kanye West and Floetry, and shared the stage with The Last Poets. He coaches The Gate City Youth Slam Team, teaches in the public and colligate school system, and hosts and performs at events across the world. Program Schedule

Dudley Heights residents are invited to join McClinton for an interactive and creative exploration of ideas and feelings about what HOME means to you. Events will take place at 6:30pm - 8:00pm on the first Tuesday of each month starting September 6 at Barber Park Event Center located at 1502 Barber Park Dr.

 A celebration event will be held on April 15, 2023, at The Poetry Cafe 8-10 pm in the Van Dyke Performance Space.

Events are free to participate with all art supplies provided.
