City to Host Networking Event for Second-Tier Subcontractors: Windsor Chavis Nocho Community Complex

Post Date:08/21/2024 12:18 PM

The Greensboro Minority and Women-owned Business Enterprise (MWBE) Office hosts an open house for second-tier subcontractors on Wednesday, August 28, from 4:30-6:30 pm at the Nussbaum Center for Entrepreneurs, 1451 S. Elm-Eugene St. Participants will learn about the $65-million Windsor Chavis Nocho Community Complex (WCNCC) project in East Greensboro.

The City hired Samet Corporation as the construction manager at risk for the project. The firm will connect interested second-tier subcontractors with prequalified first-tier subcontractors for participating packages for the WCNCC project.

The event presents an opportunity to network directly with industry leaders and peers while gaining valuable insights on meeting project requirements and MWBE goals. (The project's minimum MWBE participation goals are 17.25% MBE and 15.75% WBE.) Complimentary food and drinks will be served in a relaxed, professional setting sponsored by the City of Greensboro, Guilford County, and the Samet Corporation.

The $65-million Windsor Chavis Nocho Community Complex is an innovative and collaborative space developed by the City of Greensboro’s Public Libraries and Parks and Recreation Departments. The 65,000-square-foot facility will provide residents a place to learn and play together; improve daily living through health and wellness, offer access to City and Guilford County services, promote lifelong learning, and encourage social interaction. It will feature elements such as an indoor aquatics space that includes a lazy river, water slide, and lap pool, a teaching kitchen, gymnasium, walking track, weight and fitness rooms, plus a fully renovated outdoor park with a multipurpose field, covered basketball pavilion, and dedicated natural areas.
