About the Artist

Evan-Bennett-UPDATED2

Evan Bennett is graduate of the Weaver Academy for Performing and Visual Arts with a concentration in Dance. She holds a B.S. in Sports Science and Fitness Management from North Carolina A&T University, and an M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Howard University. In 2023, she participated in the “Women Behaving Badly: 15 Female Artists from the Triad” and in “Art Crush,” an exhibit of the Arts Council of Winston-Salem & Forsyth County.

“I am a multifaceted artist with a performing art background, and a creative that is exploring my love, talent and interest in visual art. My work is specifically relevant to topics that have inspired me throughout my entire life. My art portrays my love for music, musical artists, nature, people of color, and memorable moments in Black History. Music has always been a staple part of my life; it helps me to tune away negativity and to also imagine or visually portray my take on lyrics and the meaning of the music to me. I develop my art to showcase who I am as a creative and to relay a message by expressing my organic self. My preferred medium is digital art. My style encompasses the expressionist style, which includes imperfect strokes while blending vibrant colors for the contrast, highlights and shadows. Some of my inspirations are Jean Michel Basquiat, Keith Haring, Vincent van Gogh, Frida Kahlo, and Andy Warhol. My style of art is heavily inspired by the vivid colors of pop art, the recognition of blackness, and the journey music takes us on.”

About the Artwork

Untitled- Evan Bennett

"This piece was inspired by an image I came across on social media featuring two of my favorite musical artists at Paris Fashion Week 2023. As a lover of fashion and styling, the outfits they wore immediately captivated me. From the intricate patterns and colors, to the choice of fabrics and textures, everything about the look stood out. I felt compelled to create my own visual interpretation of the image, capturing the essence and details that made these outfits so striking."
