City of Greensboro Announces Independence Day Closures and Changes

City offices are closed on Friday, July 4, in observance of Independence Day.

No garbage or recycling collections will take place on July 4. Friday’s collections take place on Thursday, July 3, and Thursday’s collections take place on Wednesday, July 2. All other collections remain the same. The White Street Landfill and Solid Waste Transfer Station will be closed on July 4.

The Greensboro Public Libraries, Greensboro History Museum, and Greensboro Cultural Center are all closed on July 4.

On July 4, the Greensboro Transit Agency will operate on a weekend schedule from 6 am-10 pm. Crossmax bus service will operate on a 30-minute frequency, and the Hopper Trolley will provide normal service.

Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department’s administrative offices, recreation centers, the Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation section, Greensboro Youth Council, Smith and Trotter Active Adult Centers, Xperience @ Caldcleugh, and Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion are closed on July 4. City parks, gardens, lakes, trails, cemeteries, the Greensboro Sportsplex, and Gillespie Golf Course remain open on their normal operating schedules.

The Melvin Municipal Office Building and J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center are closed to all in-person services on July 4. Alternative ways to pay a water bill can be found at greensboro-nc.gov/PayWaterBill. For water and sewer emergencies, including main breaks and sewer stoppages, or changes in the taste, odor, or color of drinking water, call Water Resources 24-hour Dispatch at 336-373-2033.
