Beginning on Monday, July 28, construction will start on a temporary fire station at 2420 West Gate City Blvd. Features of the station include an apparatus for fire engines and a temporary caretaker space. 

Construction is expected to last approximately three months. 

The temporary station will operate for roughly one year while Fire Station 08, located at 2201 Coliseum Blvd., undergoes renovations. Alongside a full renovation of the station, upgrades consist of increasing the height of the garage to accommodate taller fire engines, new mechanical, electrical, and plumbing fixtures, and the addition of female locker rooms and showers.
