The City of Greensboro and its public safety agencies host the annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb on Saturday, September 13, in remembrance of the 24th anniversary of the September 11, 2001, terrorist attacks.
The climb begins at 9 am at the Eugene Street Deck, 215 N. Eugene St., with registration from 8-9 am.
Residents are encouraged to participate in this meaningful tribute, which honors the public safety personnel who lost their lives on 9/11. Participants will climb the deck nine times, roughly 73 flights of stairs, symbolizing the highest floor reached by New York City firefighters during their heroic response.
“The stair climb is more than just a tribute, it’s a reminder of the courage and sacrifice shown on one of our nation’s darkest days,” said Greensboro Fire Chief Jim Robinson. “Although the climb can be difficult, this event helps us continue to serve with the same spirit of those first responders 24 years ago.”
ISI Elite Training will lead a pre-climb warm-up. Event T-shirts will be available for $15, along with other merchandise. Proceeds benefit the Greensboro Firefighter Historical Society, a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit.
