Residents Invited to Comment on Transportation Funded Projects

On behalf of the Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO), the Greensboro Department of Transportation has published the MPO’s listing of proposed construction projects from 2026 through 2035. The MPO’s Transportation Advisory Committee will process collected feedback before voting on the projects at its September 24 meeting. 

Every two years, the MPO approves new transportation projects and schedules to be constructed with state and federal funding. Named the Draft 2026-2035 Metropolitan Transportation Improvement Program (MTIP), the list includes roadway, public transportation, bicycle, pedestrian, rail, and aviation developments. The document and maps can be reviewed online at  www.guampo.org.  

Residents and other interested persons may comment on the Draft 2026-2035 MTIP through the following options: 

  • Attend an online public meeting on Wednesday, August 27, from noon-1 pm. Online registration by 5 pm on Tuesday, August 26, is required. 
  • Direct traditional mail to: Greensboro DOT/MPO, Attn: Craig McKinney, P.O. Box 3136, Greensboro, NC 27402-3136  

All comments received by September 18 will be considered before final TAC approval. 

The Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization manages the federally required transportation planning process for the area's highway, transit, bicycle, and pedestrian facilities. The Greensboro metropolitan planning area includes the City of Greensboro, the majority of unincorporated Guilford County, and the towns of Oak Ridge, Pleasant Garden, Sedalia, Stokesdale, and Summerfield. The MPO is responsible for coordinating transportation planning activities with federal, state, regional, and local entities, represented by professional staff, elected officials, and appointed representatives.
