Creative Greensboro to Celebrate Deaf Awareness Month with First Friday Event

Creative Greensboro’s First Friday events return to the Greensboro Cultural Center, 200 N. Davie St., this fall to launch a season celebrating the City’s diverse cultures.

Creative Greensboro will host “Deaf Arts Connect!,” a Deaf Awareness Month event in partnership with the organization MyASLTeacherRocks! from 6-9 pm on Friday, September 5. This free event will feature an American Sign Language (ASL) storyteller, a paint-and-sign area, deaf-friendly musical performances, and ASL classes for beginners. Visitors can also shop for handmade crafts or tasty treats at a vendor fair featuring all deaf or hard-of-hearing vendors.

All events will take place in the second floor atrium of the Greensboro Cultural Center, located at 200 N. Davie St.

Vendor Call

Creative Greensboro is currently seeking local artists, craftspeople, and small food vendors to participate in the monthly Maker’s Market during First Friday events. There is no fee to participate, and tables and chairs will be provided. Basic electrical access is available upon request. Those interested are encouraged to complete the Vendor Interest Form to be considered for upcoming events. Please note that space is limited, and not all applicants will be selected each month.
