The City of Greensboro will host the 99th edition of the “Greatest Homecoming on Earth,” as North Carolina A&T State University welcomes over 100,000 alumni, family, and friends to celebrate Aggie Pride throughout Greensboro. In preparation for permitted events throughout the week of homecoming activities, street closures, and traffic pattern alterations will be as outlined below.
Homecoming Parade
The Homecoming Parade will be held at 8 am on Saturday, October 11. Beginning at 5 am on Saturday, October 11, the following streets will be closed to through traffic:
• Murrow Boulevard from East Friendly Avenue to North Elm Street (re-opens at 1 pm)
• East Lindsay Street from North Church Street to East Bessemer Avenue (re-opens at 7 pm)
• Dudley Street from Lindsay Street to East Market Street (re-opens at 7 pm)
• Yanceyville Street from Summit Avenue to Lindsay Street (remains closed until Monday, October 13, for festival).
Aggie FanFest
Aggie FanFest – a free, community festival coordinated by the City – will be hosted on Yanceyville Street and Homeland Avenue, just west of World War Memorial Stadium. FanFest will operate at the following dates: Friday, October 10, from 4-9 pm; Saturday, October 11, from 8 am to 8 pm; Sunday, October 12, from 11 am to 5 pm.
Beginning at 7 am on Wednesday, October 8, the following streets will be closed to through traffic, and will re-open at 7 am on Monday, October 13:
• Yanceyville Street from Summit Avenue to Lindsay Street
• Homeland Avenue from Yanceyville Street to Murrow Boulevard
• Charter Place from Homeland Avenue to Park Avenue
On-street parking will be restricted on Homeland Avenue and Charter Place after Wednesday, October 8. Local, residential traffic will be permitted along Homeland Avenue, Charter Place, and Park Avenue.
Aggies on Elm
Aggies on Elm, a downtown alumni celebration and tailgate, will be hosted on Elm Street between Market Street and McGee Street. Beginning at 2 pm on Friday, October 10, Elm Street will be closed to through traffic and on-street parking until 6:30 am Sunday, October 12.
Additional Parking Information
On-campus and adjacent streets may be closed at various times, based on the discretion of Greensboro Police and N.C. A&T State University Police. Please be aware that traffic in the area of campus will be congested on Friday and Saturday of homecoming weekend.
Downtown Special Event Parking will be offered at the normal rates in downtown City-owned decks and lots.
• Parade Parking is recommended at the Church Street parking deck at 215 N. Church St.
• Downtown Event Parking is recommended at the Greene Street parking deck at 211 S. Greene St. and the Davie Street parking deck at 109 E. Market St.
There will be a free, two-way shuttle service running between the Koury Convention Center, 3121 W. Gate City Blvd, and the intersection of East Lindsay Street and Sullivan Street by Truist Stadium, from 7 am to 6:30 pm on Saturday, October 11.
