Post Date:10/02/2025 3:00 PM

Nature After Dark features New York Times best-selling author Leigh Ann Henion as she shares insights from her new book, Night Magic: Adventures Among Glowworms, Moon Gardens, and Other Marvels of the Dark at 6:30 pm, Wednesday, October 15, at the Kathleen Clay Edwards Branch, 1420 Price Park Rd. Henion and author Laura Carney will discuss personal transformation and the deep connections between storytelling and environmental awareness.

After the discussion, Environmental Librarian Melanie Buckingham will lead a guided twilight walk through Price Park’s trails and the woods that surround the Kathleen Clay Branch. This one-hour stroll offers an excellent opportunity to experience the themes of Night Magic firsthand.

Known for her immersive explorations of the natural world, Henion’s book invites readers to embrace the beauty and mystery of nature after dark. From the bioluminescence of glowworms to the quiet allure of moon gardens, Night Magic is a celebration of the Earth’s most subtle nocturnal wonders.

Laura Carney is author of My Father’s List: How Living My Dad’s Dreams Set Me Free, this year’s One City, One Book selection. Exploration of one’s self and the world is a theme in her memoir. This is a unique opportunity to hear from two writers whose work encourages an appreciation for the natural world and our place within it.

To attend Nature After Dark, register in advance by e-mail.

Nature After Dark is made possible by donations to the Greensboro Public Library Foundation. Whether an avid environmentalist or a curious wanderer, this event offers inspiration to see nature through a lens of renewed awe and wonder.
