Learn about indigenous environmental issues with author Dr. Ryan Emanuel at 12 pm, Friday, October 24, at the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch, 1420 Price Park Rd. Dr. Emanuel is a Lumbee hydrologist and associate professor in the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University. His book, On the Swamp: Fighting for Indigenous Environmental Justice, reveals the disproportionate environmental burdens inflicted on indigenous and other marginalized communities.

Dr. Emanuel’s visit is sponsored by the Green Reads Book Club, a group of readers who enjoy nature and environmental literature. Green Reads meets monthly at the Kathleen Clay Branch and new members are always welcome.
