Creative Greensboro, the City’s office for arts and culture, is now accepting applications for the next Poet Laureate of Greensboro. The Poet Laureate uses the art of poetry to inspire future creatives, foster community connections, and promote literary arts citywide.
The Poet Laureate serves as an ambassador for poetry and creative expression, leading initiatives that make literature more accessible to all. While the position allows flexibility to reflect the individual’s artistic vision and strengths, core responsibilities include:
- Leading a project that expands literary engagement within communities with limited access to the arts
- Performing at select civic and cultural events on behalf of the City
- Curating a public program in celebration of National Poetry Month
“Greensboro’s Poet Laureate highlights the power of words to foster understanding, shape identity, and inspire pride,” said Jackie Boone, chief creative economy officer and head of Creative Greensboro. “We’re excited to welcome a new voice who will carry on this tradition of creativity and community leadership.”
Applications and detailed guidelines are available online at www.creativegreensboro.com. The deadline to apply is Sunday, November 30 at 5 pm.
