City Offices and Facilities Closed for Thanksgiving Holiday

City of Greensboro offices and facilities are closed Thursday, November 27, and Friday, November 28, in observance of Thanksgiving. The following services and facilities will operate on a holiday schedule:

No garbage, recycling, bulk trash, yard waste, or appliance collections will take place on November 27. That day’s collections will take place on Wednesday, November 26. Collections on November 28 remain unchanged.

The White Street Landfill and Solid Waste Transfer Station are closed on November 27. Regular hours resume the following day.

All locations of the Greensboro Public Library system and the Greensboro Cultural Center are closed November 27-28. In addition, the Cultural Center will close at 6 pm on November 26. Regular hours for the libraries and Cultural Center resume on Saturday, November 29.

The Greensboro History Museum is closed on Thanksgiving Day and resumes regular hours on November 28.

The J. Edward Kitchen Operations Center will be closed to all in-person services from November 27-28. Regular hours resume Monday, December 1. Alternative ways to pay a water bill can be found at www.greensboro-nc.gov/PayWaterBill. For water and sewer emergencies, including main breaks and sewer stoppages, or changes in taste, odor, or color of drinking water, call Water Resources 24-hour Dispatch at 336-373-2033.

The Greensboro Sportsplex, Simkins Indoor Sports Pavilion at Barber Park, Adaptive and Inclusive Recreation, Greensboro Youth Council, Xperience @ Caldcleugh, and Greensboro Parks and Recreation administrative offices are closed November 27-28. The City’s recreation centers, Smith Active Adult Center, and Trotter Active Adult Center are closed November 27-30. Lake Townsend, Lake Brandt, and Lake Higgins are closed on November 27 and will re-open on November 28. City cemeteries remain open, but no services are allowed on Thanksgiving Day. The Gillespie Golf Course, public gardens, Barber, Country, Hester, and Keeley parks are closed on Thanksgiving Day and resume normal operating hours the following day. City trails are open to the public.

The Greensboro Transit Agency (GTA) and Access GSO service will run on a weekend schedule November 27-28, with operations from 6 am to 10 pm.
