Greensboro Beautiful Launches Capital Campaign to Support Two Signature Garden Projects

Post Date:11/21/2025 11:54 AM

Greensboro Beautiful, Inc., in partnership with the City of Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department, has announced the launch of a Capital Campaign to raise funds for two transformative public garden projects: the Bog Garden Boardwalk Replacement and The Gathering at Gateway Gardens.

These projects represent the next chapter in Greensboro Beautiful’s decades-long mission to connect people and nature through conservation, beautification, and community engagement.

Revitalizing a Local Treasure: The Bog Garden Boardwalk

The Bog Garden at Benjamin Park has been one of Greensboro’s most beloved natural sanctuaries for more than 35 years. Its elevated wooden boardwalk allows thousands of visitors each year to explore the wetlands up close – without disturbing sensitive plant and wildlife habitats.

Today, the aging structure needs full replacement to ensure visitor safety and environmental protection. With design and permitting now complete, Greensboro Beautiful is seeking to raise the final $115,000 needed to begin construction. The City of Greensboro has committed significant funding toward the project, with Greensboro Beautiful bridging the gap through private donations.

Creating a New Destination: The Gathering at Gateway Gardens

At Gateway Gardens, Greensboro Beautiful envisions a new multi-use “Gathering” space – a beautiful, accessible garden venue designed for small weddings, performances, and community celebrations. The project will expand the gardens’ capacity to host events that generate sustainable revenue for garden maintenance and programming.

The organization aims to raise $400,000 to bring this vision to life, creating a new civic landmark that unites art, nature, and community.

A Call to Action for Greensboro’s Green Legacy

“Greensboro Beautiful has always been about community partnership,” said Christina Larson, board chair. “These projects embody our shared commitment to preserving and enhancing Greensboro’s public gardens for generations to come. Every contribution — large or small – will help keep our gardens thriving and free for all to enjoy.”

Donations can be made online at www.GreensboroBeautiful.org/donate or by mail to:

301 S. Greene Street, Suite 300, Greensboro, NC 27405

All gifts are tax-deductible and will directly support these two capital projects.
