Annual Martin Luther King Jr. Breakfast Tickets Available

Tickets are on sale for the City’s Human Rights Commission’s (HRC) 40th-annual breakfast honoring the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. at 7 am on Monday, January 19, at the Koury Convention Center, 3121 W. Gate City Blvd. North Carolina Central University Chancellor Karrie G. Dixon, Ed.D., is the featured speaker at this year’s breakfast, which is themed, “From Words to Action: Advancing the Dream Together.”

The breakfast also recognizes the fourth class of Everyday Champions of Civil Rights Award Winners. The HRC’s MLK Breakfast Committee annually honors individuals for their contributions to further King’s vision or to champion civil rights, civil liberties, and/or human rights in Greensboro.

Tickets are available online upon registration and cost $35 per person ($350 per table of 10) through December 15. After that date, the price increases to $45 per person ($450 per table of 10). Ticket sales end January 12, 2026.

Please note payments will not be accepted on-site, and registrations with this option will not be confirmed until payment is received. Payment may be made by mail or in person at the Human Rights Department, Melvin Municipal Office Building, PO Box 3136, 300 W. Washington St., Greensboro, NC, 27402.

A trailblazing higher education leader, Dixon was named North Carolina Central’s 13th chancellor in July 2024, becoming the first woman to serve as chancellor at two UNC institutions. She previously led Elizabeth City State University, part of her more than 15 years in system-wide leadership. Dixon has shaped major policies that strengthened student success, expanded access, and fostered impactful partnerships across North Carolina’s educational landscape. Her influence extends nationally through service on numerous boards and advisory groups, paired with an array of awards recognizing her leadership and commitment to students. Dixon holds a doctorate and a bachelor’s degree from North Carolina State University and earned her master’s degree from UNC Greensboro.
