The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department will host a number of holiday-themed events throughout the month of December starting with Candlefest on Saturday, December 6.
The following are highlights of the upcoming month’s offerings:
Candlefest
Saturday, December 6 | 6-9 pm | Greensboro Arboretum, 3299 Starmount Dr.
This holiday event is held in partnership with the Girl Scouts. Arboretum walkways will be lined with luminaries, there will be a visit from Santa, and s’mores and hot chocolate will be available for purchase from the Girl Scouts. There will also be a collection can food drive at entry that will be donated to the Urban Ministry.
Oh Gingerbread
Friday, December 19 | 11 am to 1 pm | Craft Recreation Center, 3911 Yanceyville St.
Individuals 50 and older will have the opportunity to celebrate the holiday season with games, holiday themed bingo, a hot chocolate bar, refreshments, and more.
Teen Jingle Jam
Monday, December 22 | noon to 4 pm | Xperience @ Caldcleugh, 1700 Orchard St.
Put on your ugliest holiday PJs and get ready for karaoke. Join Parks and Recreation for the Teen Holiday Party, packed with holiday fun and plenty of ways to show your spirit.
Tis the Season: Holiday Arts-n-Crafts
Monday, December 22 | 9 am to 1 pm | Leonard Recreation Center, 6324 Ballinger Rd.
Looking for some holiday cheer? Head over to the Leonard Rec Center for a morning of holiday arts and crafts, music, and treats for the entire family.
Warnersville Holiday Adventure
Monday, December 22 | 11 am to 3 pm | Warnersville Recreation Center, 601 Doak St.
Head on over to Warnersville for a afternoon packed with festive cheer. There will be hot chocolate, holiday crafts, and pictures with Santa! In addition, the department will participate in a toy drive.
Family Holiday Event
Tuesday, December 23 | 10 am to 2 pm | Brown Recreation Center, 302 E. Vandalia Rd.
Children ages 6-8 and their caregivers are invited to decorate pre-baked sugar cookies with colorful frosting, sprinkles, and toppings.
Winter Fest
Tuesday, December 23 | 1-5 pm | Lindley Recreation Center, 2907 Springwood Dr.
Stop by and join Parks and Recreation for the first Lindley Winter Fest! Decorate cookies and sip hot cocoa. Enjoy some "Elf Training," create your very own snow globe, and more! There might also be a special guest appearance from the most popular man in the North Pole.
Christmas Karaoke
Tuesday, December 23 | 5-6 pm | Lewis Recreation Center (in Gym), 3110 Forest Lawn Dr.
This teen program consists of an evening social opportunity for teens to sing along to their favorite Christmas jingles and/or appropriate popular tunes as an individual or group performance. Pizza and light refreshments will be served.
