City Releases Updated Zoning Applications

Post Date:12/09/2025 3:00 PM

The City of Greensboro’s Planning Department has released revamped online zoning applications, which make the zoning process more intuitive, streamlined, and user-oriented.

Residents may continue to access both the straight and conditional rezoning applications through the City’s planning application page.

Specific updates to the new applications include:

  • A checklist ensuring all required information is provided with the application. Incomplete submittals cannot move forward in the rezoning process.

  • Additional details on other application requirements such as Traffic Studies and Unified Development Plans, plus clarification on required documents for those items.

  • Electronic signature capability, which allows for a quicker submittal process.

  • Removed requirement for notarized signature for applicants representing property owners. Documentation is still required to confirm applicant is authorized to represent the property owner with rezoning requests.

  • More details on public hearings, so the Planning and Zoning Commissions' rezoning evaluation criteria is more clearly defined.

In response to the large volumes of rezoning requests and the City’s continuing efforts to make this process clear and easy to navigate, these changes should allow for a more efficient and precise rezoning process.
