The City of Greensboro will begin a sidewalk improvement project along Commerce Place starting Monday, January 12 and continuing through early April. As part of the project, sections of Commerce Place will be closed daily from 9 am to 4 pm.
The sidewalk work represents the first phase of a larger streetscape improvement project in the corridor. The overall project includes phased reconstruction of sidewalks, installation of new planting areas, and reconfiguration of mid-block islands. Following these improvements, the corridor will be fully resurfaced. As part of the final phase, Sternberger Place will be fully converted to a one-way street to allow for the addition of new on-street parking to improve access to downtown visitors.
Motorists should expect delays around the work area and use alternate routes.
Work schedules depend on weather conditions and material/equipment availability.
