Water Pressure Upgrade to Four Farms Area Begins February 3

Post Date:01/28/2026 1:18 PM

The City's Water Resources Department is improving water service in a City neighborhoods thanks to a recently installed booster station. The project, originally set for December 1, 2025, was delayed due to electrical work and final inspection, which pushed back the timing for Duke Energy to complete work needed to power the station.

Starting on Tuesday, February 3, crews will upgrade the water pressure in the Four Farms area near Horse Pen Creek Road as part of a City Capital Improvement Project. Customers should experience the increased pressure within a day. See the map (below) for the specific location or visit www.greensboro-nc.gov/PressureUpgrades.

• The water distribution improvements will strengthen reliability, water quality, and provides a more resilient water distribution system.

• Customers within the project area can expect a boost in water pressure of at least 27–37 pounds per square inch.

• No water service interruptions are expected.

• Water discoloration is not expected. However, if you notice discoloration or cloudy water coming from your tap on February 3, run cold water for a few minutes through a faucet without an aerator, such as an outside spigot or bathtub, until clear. If the discoloration persists or if the discoloration is widespread, call Water Resources 24-hour Dispatch at 336-373-2033.

• If your home has older plumbing, or if you’re unsure how it will handle increased water pressure, contact a licensed plumber who can inspect your system or adjust your pressure-reducing valve, if needed.

Customers and property owners in the project area received letters and postcards about the upgrade in December, along with a list of frequently asked questions and a map showing the affected area.
