Greensboro Parks and Recreation February Events Roundup

The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department will host a number of events throughout the month of February starting on Sunday, February 1, with a celebration of National Girls and Women in Sports Day.

The following are highlights of the upcoming month’s offerings:

National Girls and Women in Sports Day
Sunday, February 1 | UNCG Middle College Gymnasium, 1301 W. Gate City Blvd. | 10:30 am to 1:30 pm

Greensboro Parks and Recreation will be hosting a Day of Play for girls ages 5-16 to celebrate National Girls and Sport Day (NGSD). The event will focus on providing instruction on a variety of sports while encouraging active lifestyles, socialization, and quality of life. Greensboro Parks and Recreation athletics staff, partners, and volunteers will lead these skill development initiatives.

 

Small Business Expo 2026
Saturday, February 7 | Lewis Recreation Center, 3110 Forest Lawn Dr. | 11 am to 1 pm

Join Parks and Recreation for a networking and vendor opportunity for local small businesses.

 

Friday Bowling with Social Hour (AIR)
Fridays, February 6 through April 24 | Triad Lanes, 21 Oak Branch Dr. | 10-11:30 am

A weekly program for participants to bowl and socialize. Each participant has the opportunity to bowl two games. Adaptive equipment is available if needed.

 

Downtown Greenway Walking Tours (February Session)
Saturday, February 7 | Downtown Greenway, LoFi Park, 500 N. Greene St. | 9 am to 12 noon

Enjoy a four-mile guided walking tour around the Downtown Greenway. Connect with local history, nature, public art, community stories, and more.

 

Love-U-Letter
Sunday, February 8 | Downtown Greenway, Meeting Place, 801 W. Smith St. | 2-4 pm

Take time for yourself through the art of calligraphy. Create meaningful letters for yourself, while learning the beauty of hand lettering and self-expression.

 

Pancakes & Careers
Thursday, February 12 | Ages 18-and-up | Peeler Recreation Center, 1300 Sykes Ave.

This program provides information on employment opportunities and furthering one's education from staff at local colleges and trade schools, all while enjoying pancakes.

 

South Carolina vs. Louisiana State University Women’s Basketball Watch Party
Saturday, February 14 | Ages 13+ | Xperience @ Caldcleugh, 1700 Orchard St. | 8-10:30 pm

Women's basketball fans can enjoy fun and fellowship over basketball, games and refreshments.

 

Winter Wanderings
Saturday, February 14 | Bill Craft Trailhead parking lot, 383 Plainfield Rd. | 12 noon

A winter hiking series to celebrate the holidays and get outside in the crisp, cool air. All hikes will be approximately three miles.

 

Puppy Pal-Day
Sunday, February 15 | Downtown Greenway, Freedom Cornerstone, 620 South Murrow Blvd. | 2-4 pm

This upcoming Valentine's Day weekend take a walk with your furry Valentine and enjoy some perfect quality time together.

 

Planning Your Spring Garden
Saturday, February 21 | Brown Recreation Center, 302 E. Vandalia Rd. | 10-11 am

Learn how to prepare garden spaces for spring planting. Topics include raised bed/container gardening, seed starting, planting timelines, soil preparation, and more.

 

STEAM on Tuesday
Tuesdays, February 3 through March 16 | Ages 8-16 | Xperience @ Caldcleugh, 1700 Orchard St. | 5:45-7 pm

Children and teens are invited to join this free event focused on STEAM-related activities.

 

Sustainable Food Gardening
Second Saturdays from February-November | Keeley Park Community Garden, 4100 Keeley Rd. | 10 am to 12 noon

The Sustainable Food Gardening program teaches participants how to grow fresh, nutritious produce using eco-friendly, low-impact methods through hands-on workshops. Upcoming programs include: February 14, Vegetable Seed-starting 101: tinyurl.com/seed101; March 14, Heirloom Lettuces for the Spring Garden; April 11, No-till Vegetable Garden Preparation; May 9, Time to Plant Summer Vegetables.
