MPO Releases Two Documents for Public Review and Input

Post Date:02/06/2026 3:12 PM

The Greensboro Urban Area Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) welcomes public input on two transportation planning items currently available for public review.

1.    Developer-requested changes to the Thoroughfare and Collector Street Plan:
The MPO has received requests from developers to make changes to the Thoroughfare and Collector Street Plan. Requested changes under review include:

  • Sandy Ridge Road: removal of a planned rail grade separation, an interchange, and a collector street extension north of W. Market Street
  • US 70: removal of the planned US 70 Bypass around the Town of Sedalia

A public information packet and input survey are available to collect comments for the record while MPO staff conducts technical analysis of the requests. Staff has not yet developed a recommendation.

2.    Draft Congestion Management Process (CMP):
The MPO has also released the Draft Congestion Management Process (CMP), a federally required document developed in conjunction with the recently adopted 2050 Metropolitan Transportation Plan. The CMP evaluates congestion and overall performance across the region’s multimodal transportation system.

Both items will be available for public review and comment through March 8, 2026, at www.guampo.org. Public input received during the comment period, along with staff findings, will be shared with the Transportation Advisory Committee for consideration at its March 11 meeting.

Comments may be submitted by email to guampo@greensboro-nc.gov or by mail to:
