Post Date:03/09/2026 3:51 PM

Creative Greensboro, the City’s office for Arts and Culture, has selected Linda Greenwood and Nova Lockhart for the Residency at the Hyers program. Residents will create and premier original music and theatre productions in the Stephen D. Hyers Theatre from July through October. Each resident will receive a $1,200 stipend, technical and marketing support, and rent-free access to the 88-seat black box theater located at the Greensboro Cultural Center.

Residency Details

Nova Lockheart and ‘Temple of the Muse,’ July 6 through August 2
In “Temple of the Muse,” Lockhart curates performances that feel both ancient and futuristic, intimate and expansive. The work blends contemporary circus arts with sound healing, live music, and movement rooted in global wisdom traditions honoring the ways sages, elders, and lineage keepers have long used sound, rhythm, and physical expression to guide communities through healing, celebration, and remembrance.

Each performance is crafted as a living atmosphere, one that invites audiences to slow down, feel deeply, and reconnect with something timeless within themselves. “Temple of the Muse” is not simply watched; it is felt. And those who enter its world leave with a sense that they have glimpsed something rare, intentional, and worth returning to.

Linda Greenwood and Harmony in Creation Workshop, September 7 through October 4
The Harmony in Creation Workshop is a community-centered songwriting residency designed to make the creative process accessible, interactive, and inspiring for a broad range of Greensboro residents. This workshop provides a welcoming space where participants of all backgrounds – whether experienced musicians or complete beginners – come together to explore music-making through guided, collaborative sessions that culminate in a series of public performances in September.

A hands on creative lab where attendees, once oriented, are invited to engage in the workshop's signature interactive songwriting experience where they observe, contribute, and participate in the development of a brand-new original song. The residency concludes with a public sharing session, where the community is invited to experience the outcome of the residency – a live performance and discussion of the workshop created songs.
