The Greensboro Parks and Recreation Department hosts the 11th-annual Wheels on the Greenway, 9 am to 1 pm, Saturday, May 2, at Woven Works Park, 401 Cumberland St.
As the kickoff for Greensboro’s National Bike Month festivities, this free event is about more than just bicycles. All are welcome to attend this celebration of wheels of all kinds, including bikes, trikes, skateboards, rollerblades, skates, and scooters.
More than 30 community organizations will offer free interactive and educational festivities, including adaptive cycle demos, helmet giveaways, a bike repair station, a mini skate park and skateboard demos, a children’s bike safety rodeo, “bling your ride” stations, e-scooter trials, prize drawings, face painting, and more. Borough Coffee, Stackette, Send It Sammies, and Cailee Belle’s Sweet Shoppe will sell refreshments.
Parking is available at the State Employees’ Credit Union, 405 N. Murrow Blvd., although visitors are encouraged to roll up to the event on their bikes, skateboards, roller skates, or scooters. All human-powered wheels, e-bikes, e-scooters and motorized wheelchairs are welcome.
