Residents Invited to Serve on City Committee

Post Date:05/01/2026 9:03 AM

Residents may apply for one of nine positions on the City’s Ad hoc Committee on African American Disparity (ACAAD) now through Sunday, May 31, using this online application.

City Council established ACAAD in 2020 to address barriers that prevent success for Greensboro's African American residents through policies, procedures, and regulations. Committee members serve two-year terms, during which they research policy and procedures, obtain community feedback, and make recommendations to the City Council about how to improve access to resources for the city's African American population.

The group's work is divided into the following five focus areas:

  • Economic and Workforce Development
  • Education
  • Law Enforcement, Justice, and Accountability
  • Housing & Health Disparities
  • Community Engagement

ACAAD is one of five committees, commissions, and task forces administered by the City’s Human Rights Department. The department promotes mutual understanding, respect, and fair treatment for all Greensboro residents, regardless of race, color, national origin, religion, gender, age, disability, or familial status.
