Library Welcomes Best-Selling Author Leigh Ann Henion May 18
Post Date:05/07/2026 9:00 AMThe Greensboro Public Library is hosting New York Times best-selling author Leigh Ann Henion, as she shares insights from her book, Night Magic: Adventures Among Glowworms, Moon Gardens, and Other Marvels of the Dark and Phenomenal on Monday, May 18, from 6:30-7:30 pm at the Kathleen Clay Edward Family Branch, 1420 Price Park Rd.
Known for her immersive explorations of the natural world, Henion invites readers to embrace the beauty and mystery of nature after dark. From the bioluminescence of glowworms to the quiet allure of moon gardens, her latest work is a celebration of the Earth’s most subtle nocturnal wonders.
The evening begins with a conversation between Henion and environmental educator, C.T. Finney. Together, they’ll discuss the value of darkness for nighttime creatures, human health, and for the environment. Participants will also discover ways to appreciate the value of darkness for nighttime wildlife observation.
After the discussion, there will be a guided firefly activity in Price Park, the natural sanctuary surrounding the Kathleen Clay Edwards Family Branch. The evening activity allows participants to experience the themes of Night Magic firsthand—observing the natural world as it transitions into night, when subtle marvels often go unnoticed. Whether you're an avid environmentalist or a curious wanderer, this event offers inspiration to see nature through a lens of renewed awe and wonder.
