Creative Greensboro will host multi-disciplinary artist Subbora Jackson to the Greensboro Residency for Original Works (GROW), from Tuesday, July 7, through Monday, August 17, for an imaginative and interactive residency titled “The Intergalactic Chess Café and Art Experience.” Visitors of all ages are invited to explore creative strategy and community connections through immersive experiences that blend the game of chess with visual art, live theater, and collaborative storytelling.
Free programming will be offered on Thursdays and Fridays featuring community chess nights, creative activities, and interactive workshops. Ticketed programming on Tuesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays include hands-on art workshops, interactive treasure hunts, and live theatrical experiences. The residency opens with a free public reception on Thursday, July 9, and concludes with a community celebration on Monday, August 17. Events are designed for all ages to enjoy, and no chess experience is required to participate.

About the Artist
Jackson grew up in Washington, D.C. in a family of creatives, developing a passion for interactive art. As an art adventurist, she has produced over 900 original works and exhibited throughout Maryland and Florida, including a featured role at the 2017 Roswell UFO Festival. She is also an experienced art instructor and director, leading workshops for teens, college students, and seniors. She continues to create comics and animation while teaching and raising two musical teenagers.
