Dr. Jungho Kim of Jamestown, North Carolina, will lead the Philharmonia of Greensboro beginning with the 2026-2027 season. Kim replaces retiring conductor, Peter Perret, who led the orchestra for the past 14 years. 

Dr. Kim has established an outstanding reputation over the past two decades for his musicality and leadership on the podium. He has conducted numerous orchestras around the world, including in the United States, Europe, and Asia. After finishing two masters of music degrees (one in violin performance and another in orchestral conducting) from the University of Cincinnati’s College Conservatory of Music, he served as the associate conductor of Sioux City Symphony Orchestra in Iowa and assistant conductor of the Rochester Philharmonic, in Rochester, New York. Dr. Kim completed his doctor of musical arts degree at the Eastman School of Music and led the Augustana and Kent State University orchestras, along with the Tuscawaras Philharmonic Orchestra before coming to Greensboro to serve as associate professor of conducting and director of orchestras at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro.

The Philharmonia of Greensboro began as the Greensboro Civic Orchestra in 1978. Dr. Kim will lead the ensemble beginning this fall with its 48th season.
