The Parks and Recreation Department will restore operating hours at the City's lakes and recreation centers starting in September. The restoration of hours results from feedback requesting more access and programming opportunities.
“The Parks and Recreation team is pleased to introduce new hours of operation at our lakes and recreation centers,” said Phil Fleischmann, Parks and Recreation director. “The hours restore and expand access to these important venues while allowing for greater consistency in operations across sites. Additionally, through a new Request for Proposals process, we look forward to establishing new partnerships to grow programming and opportunities across locations.”
City Lakes
Beginning on Tuesday, September 1, the City's lakes — Brandt, Higgins, and Townsend — will operate under expanded daily hours, giving visitors more time on the water each season.
Fall (September, October) and spring (April 2027) hours will extend from 7 am to 7 pm, adding an additional hour of daily operation during the fall and an additional two hours in April. The winter hours (November through February) will see an additional hour to extend hours from 8 am to 5 pm, while March will get an additional three hours and operate from 7 am to 7 pm.
The lakes will be open six days a week seasonally starting in April 2027. From now through March 2027, the lakes will continue to be closed two days a week.
Along with the change to hours for the City’s lakes, the City’s 10 recreation centers will also operate with new hours.
Recreation Centers
Centers will move to a 9 am to 8 pm schedule, with lunchtime closures from noon to 2 pm for administrative work and schedule efficiencies, at all sites Monday to Friday. Saturday hours will run from 9 am to 1 pm at all sites except Lindley, Warnersville, Glenwood, and Peeler. Lindley’s Saturday hours will run from 1-5 pm, while Warnersville, Glenwood, and Peeler will operate from 9 am to 5 pm on Saturdays.
With hours now extended, the department has created a new Programming Request for Proposal (RFP) Program that allows the community to propose new programming to be hosted at the department's recreation centers and other facilities.
