On Tuesday, August 18, Greensboro City Council approved a 180-day moratorium on data centers. The moratorium temporarily pauses the acceptance, processing, and approval of development applications for data centers, data storage and processing facilities, and similar uses with an electrical power demand exceeding 10 megawatts. During the moratorium period, Greensboro City Council is hosting a series of work sessions to explore topics related to data centers, hear outside perspectives, and review best practices from other communities.
Work sessions will be held at 3 pm in the Plaza level conference room of the Melvin Municipal Office Building, 300 W. Washington St. The meetings will be open to the public to attend either in-person or virtually.
